I am a 55 year old male and was recently
started on a medication for my high blood pressure. I now have grown decent size
breasts. Is this related to my medication?
Gynecomastia or boobs can occur in men who
take certain water pills. Spironolactone is a medication for control of blood
pressure and is known to cause this problem. You should tell your doctor about
it. You will need to stop the medication and take something else to control your blood pressure. Do not stop
the medication without first speaking to your doctor. The boobs will disappear when the medication is stopped. However, I recommend that you stop drinking alcohol, as the
condition may worsen. Do not be in a rush to see a surgeon to treat this condition, as in most cases it reverses by itself. The plastic surgeon will charge you thousands of dollars for a disorder that is reversible.
