Stopping an antidepressant

I would like to stop my antidepressant. Is there a certain protocol I have to follow?
First , you should speak to your doctor that you would like to stop the medication. All antidepressants have to be tapered off slowly. If you stop these medication abruptly, you will develop withdrawal reactions which are not pleasant. The medications can be tapered off over 2-5 weeks. Side effects of withdrawal may include tremor, nervousness, muscle pain, nausea, fatigue, chills, extreme irritability and dizziness. While these symptoms are not life threatening, they are very unpleasant.
