Gout pain

I have been told I have gout. Is there something I can take at home to prevent the pain in future?

Yes, have some NSAIDs handy in case the attack comes on again. Drugs like indomethacin can help relieve the pain within a few hours. Colchicine used to be a commonly used drug in the past, but has fallen out of favor. It is an effective drug but can cause profound episodes of diarrhea. If you have recurrent episodes of gout, you should be taking allopurinol.
